| + | ==== Shaping a democratic food policy – the path to food sovereignity (16.9.2018) ==== | ||
| + | |||
| + | Event by “System Change, not Climate Change” | ||
| + | |||
| + | It is often suggested that by making good choices when buying in supermarkets we can support a good food economy. However, this does not touch the general framework, which encompasses land-grabbing, corporate power and exploitation. The predominant food economy increasingly undermines the human right to nutrition. A real alternative is the movement for food sovereignty, in which consumers and producers cooperate. | ||
| + | |||
| + | In our presentation we debate the consequences of free trade and the common agricultural policy of the European union and point out, how food sovereignty here offers possible solutions. In the last part of the event, we would like to invite the audience to think how they can cooperatively participate in the shaping of a democratic food policy. | ||

| + | The Vagina Monologues (scenic reading): humorous, serious, profound and feminist – Vaginas narrate of fates, of the search for the female identity, of love and passion, of disappointment and violence. Text by Eve Ensler, artistic direction Judith Valerie Engel and Gertraud Steinkogler-Wurzinger. | ||
| + | |||
| + | Discussion with Monika Vana (EU-parliament delegate). A current study by the EU shows a significant backlash. Gender mainstreaming gets increasingly constrained. Especially such areas as education, health and prevention of violence are affected. Who does suffer from these restrictions? What are the causes? How can politics counteract such developments? | ||

| + | |||
| + | The Peace and Securities of the European Union are ambivalent in their public perception: On the one hand, it is a historic project of peace which has been awarded with the Nobel Peace Price. On the other hand, it is a global player competing for the title of “armament world champion”, driven by the interests of hegemony and the armament lobby. Where are European peace policies headed and which role do national and international initiatives for peace and disarmament play? | ||

| + | ==== Solidarity with migrants on high seas (19.09.2018) ==== | ||
| + | |||
| + | Watch the Med Alarm Phone is a project which was founded by activists from Europe and North Africa in 2014. The self-organised call-center for refugees who are in distress at sea should ensure a safe rescue and prevent human right violations such as pushbacks. | ||
| + | |||
| + | At that, those in distress get a second chance to make their call for help heard by sea rescue. Each emergency is recorded and publicly accompanied till safe rescue. If necessary, further support is drummed up. Thereby pressure is exerted on those responsible, at least as far as possible. | ||
